Kenneth Taylor, an American ex-pat, and his wife Eden adopted her. Poarch said that she worked on the family farm for 10 years and did chores. Bryner, her older brother Bryner as well as two of her older siblings have also been adopted. She moved with her family into Texas, United States when she was 13 years old. Her two older siblings remain in the Phillipines. Later, Poarch served as a United States Navy officer and lived for several time in Japan.
